| Haruhiko Mikimoto says he's "just a character designer," but his characters have created fans worldwide. His Macross designs first showed millions of anime's potential when the series was broadcast as Robotech. The interesting part of Macross trivia is the link between that series and the Dirty Pair. The series was originated by Studio Nue, owned by Haruka Takachiho, the Pair's creator. Mikimoto said he "just happened" to get the job on Macross. That series was not Nue's top priority, and no one expected it to be a worldwide hit as Robotech. |
| Often, anime creators move as quickly as possible from one job to the next and the emphasis always is on the new. Mikimoto said his Macross characters remain his favorites. Of course, Mikimoto has nothing against more work, and he hopes the art jobs keep coming. |  |
