| At Katsucon V, held four months before Project: A-Kon 10, a fan asked
panelists from Studio Ironcat what plans they had for future titles. In
response, Steve Bennett of Ironcat nearly swallowed his tongue. At A-Kon,
Bennett had a similar response to the same question, saying he couldn't
talk about things that hadn't been settled yet. Bennett noted that two
new manga series would be coming from Ironcat in 1999: one about a girl
and her 7-foot pet rabbit (has anyone heard of "Harvey?") and another one
called Valkire. |
 |
| Another statement from Bennett was unchanged from Katsucon: Ironcat
bases its releases on what fans say they want, especially those who attend
conventions. That seems to be the small Virginia company's way of conducting
market research. |
 |
| Hiroshi Aro, also at the panel, was asked if there was any chance that
his works might be animated, especially his sex-change comedy, Futaba-Kun
Change. Bennett answered the question, saying there might be an animated
Futaba if enough fans showed they were interested. Bennett followed that
by saying that there had been inquiries to Ironcat about a live-action
TV series based on Futaba: that was news to Aro. |
 |
| A member of the audience wanted to know how Ironcat (and Studio Do-Do)
artist Ippongi Bang came up with her story ideas. From watching movies,
"I think `I want to use this line,' and I write this down," was the answer.
Bang surprised the audience when she said she had 200 notebooks full of
story ideas! |
