This cake was one of several baked to celebrate the 10th Project: A-Kon, the oldest anime convention in the U.S. There was enough cake for 600 people...

...thanks to Meri Hazlewood, the person in charge of A-Kon. She announced that 1,200 people had registered in advance for A-Kon, up from 800 in 1998.

The ceremony started with a performance by the Kobushi taiko drummers.

Hazlewood returned, backed by some people who held up the anniversary banners.

Next came a ballet demonstration, a skillful dance by a performer who had more to offer than most thought.

To bring the crowd down from the ethereal heights of art, the conventions then produced Tim Thomerson and his admission that he wears a toupee.
