for Kimagure Orange Road. |

Yasuhiro Nightow was astounded by the reception he got when he was introduced
as the creator of Trigun. "I wouldn't have my art style if it wasn't for
American comics," he said. |

Chiho Saito, the Utena manga artist, said she was looking forward to seeing
more costumers - to make up for a disappointment. "I saw the L.A. beaches
and said `I want to swim there,' but I found it's contaminated with E.
coli, so I can't," she said. |

The only fan disappointment came after the huge cheers for Fushigi Yuugi
artist Yu Watase, who had to tell the audience that she was so busy drawing
manga that she wouldn't be able to stay for the entire convention. |

Kunihiko Ikuhara, creator of Revolutionary Girl Utena, said "This is my
third trip to the states and I don't have a girlfriend. I hope a lot of
girls come and talk to me." |
