When animator Scott Frazier (left) asked artists Steve Bennett (center)
and Robert DeJesus (right) on stage after the costume contest, only a few
people knew what was going to happen next, all part of Frazier's secret
plot. |

Frazier let the audience in on the surprise when he asked a friend to read
an item from a piece of paper: it said "Welcome to Robert Dejesus' wedding." |

It was hard to tell if Bennett or Frazier got a biggest kick out of the
announcement. Fantastic at it may have seen, it was no joke... |

...as fans discovered when a wedding party took to the stage, complete
with bride in white gown. |

DeJesus and his fiancee met a couple of years ago at Anime Central. It
turned out that Frazier is an ordained minister in the Universal Unitarian
Church... |

...and was authorized to perform the ceremony. It went like any other wedding,
except that Frazier deftly avoided the traditional call for anyone to object
to the marriage at the last minute. |

And it seemed that both parties to the wedding were perfectly agreeable
to the proceedings... |

...although they were a little stunned at the idea of getting married in
front of a big crowd at an anime convention. |
