Time for Katsucon's opening ceremonies and Keith Mayfield, con chair, declares
this an "old school" event dedicated to anime before Dragon Ball Z. |

Then Mayfield turns the proceesings over to Richard Kim, who made a long
trip from a job in Japan to help run the show. |

Kim has the pleasure of introducing the convention's big star, Japanese
voice actor Maria Kawamura, who greets the fans with the famed "queen of
roses" laugh that personifies her role as Naga in Slayers. |

"Do you know?" asks Kawamura about her Slayers role, and when the crowd
cheers, she responds "I'm glad to get that reaction." Three other Japanese
artists scheduled to attend Katsucon were late in arriving and missed the
ceremonies. |

And the rest of the guests followed: Steve Bennett of Studio Ironcat... |
