a chain of Hong Kong properties.
You know you're in Canada when: you see Tim Horton's food on every
table. The donut shops named for the former hockey player are more common
in Canada than Krispy Kreme in the U.S.
Then there were other faces who hadn't been seen at a North American
convention in a while, starting with erotic horror manga artist Senno Knife,
who was at Project: A-Kon in 1999. Knife's wife, Nekoi Rutoto, also was

...and she was planning to sing as part of the Psy-Doll rock group
that performs in Japanese independent clubs. That's Ucchi on the left and
Loveless on the right. After a long day at Anime North, punctuated with
a quick trip to downtown Toronto, Nekoi said she was ready for a nap.
Always near the food, here's Keith Burgess of Manga Entertainment.
The Anime North guests included familiar faces such as Robert DeJesus,
Doug Smith, Scott Frazier, Steve Bennett and Amanda Winn Lee, who had the crowd
at the opening ceremonies sing "Happy Birthday" for her mother, nicknamed
"Goober," who celebrated her 50th birthday on the week before the convention.
