In 2001, Nan Desu Kan came a weekand a half after the terrorist attacks
and some guests of honor called off their appearances. In 2002, the Colorado
convention had a large number of guests, starting with Nobuyuki Takahashi
of Studio Hard.
The publisher and promoter encouraged Nan Desu Kan fans to travel to
Japan and attend the 2003
Tokyo International Anime Fair, which is one of the major industry
events.
Susumu Sakurai, already known for his Sentimental Grafitti 2 game design,
now is working on a Mahoromatic game and also is the editorial director
for the forthcoming Raijin Comics translated manga.
Takahashi and Sakurai brought some rare art to Colorado, including
production cels from Macross Seven.
More rare art was brought by Noboyuki Ohnishi, the concept artist for
the classic Royal Space Force film, "a very old movie" as Onishi described
it.
"I am going to say it because they gave me a microphone; Denver rocks,
man," shouted actor Scott McNeill in one of his most restrained performances
ever.
