Anime USA had a star-spangled mascot at their opening ceremonies. The event
happened on a dreary-rainy day that was marred by the latest in a series
of sniper shootings that had plagued the Washington, D.C. area. Steve Bennett

any of this hold us back, and we're going to go ahead and have a good time. |

that managed to attract an interesting mix of artists and actors. |
Hidenori Matsubara hadn't been to an U.S. anime convention before a trip
to anime Expo a couple of years ago. The redesigner of the Oh My Goddess
and Sakura Wars characters for animation now gets to two or three North
American events a year. |

convention, and the Futaba-Kun Change artist keeps coming back to the U.S. |
