Anime Boston
Panels - Tiffany Grant
After being Madame President in Golden Boy and Asuka in Evangelion, Tiffany Grant has another character voice that was in fan demand at Anime Boston, the Puu Chuus from Excel Saga. Grant isn't the lead Puu Chuu, that's actor Kira. She's the multi-tracked voice of the Puu Chuu choruses that appear in the wacky series. And when the Puu Chuus are beaten up and make ugly faces, that's actor Mike Vance who handles the "why do you hit me so" lines; Vance's voice is a lot deeper than Grant's, of course.
Production work on Excel Saga ended early in 2003 (to many sighs of relief at ADV Films), and the company has moved on to dozens of other projects. Grant is getting up to speed on the Blue Seed 2 dubs, where her character of Komei has only a few lines in the early episodes (the character is supposed to be missing, but don't tell anyone). Later in the series the character reappears and Grant has a lot more lines. Then there's the ADV dub of All Purpose Cultural Cat Girl Nuku-Nuku, where Grant wanted the lead role but had to settle for another part (Alison Keith got to be the android catgirl).
The Vancouver-based troupe of Gundam Wing actors who appeared at Anime Boston all seemed to have worked on the same shows, such as My Little Pony, Hamtaro and X-Men Evolution. For the Houston-based group of performers used by ADV Films, the link seems to be a childrens' theater production of Snow White, where Grant portrayed what she described as the "world's oldest Snow White." Once, Hillary Haag (Menchi in Excel Saga, among other roles) filled in for Grant, and other ADV actors have had roles in that play. "Have I ever regretted taking a role? No, as long as you're paid its all good."
