Before the opening ceremonies came something that few conventions have
had to show. Just before noon on Friday, Nekocon put up the "sold out"
sign, something they had warned about since so many people registered
in advance.
Then, just before the opening ceremonies started on Friday afternoon, a
fire alarm sounded and the hotel was evacuated. Someone had
pulled a fire alarm, but this time convention volunteers saw the "kid"
pull the alarm and nabbed him. That kid was immediately removed from
the convention, according to Nekocon staff.
The fire drill delayed the opening ceremonies, so the previously
planned skit was cut to the closing scene where Dan T. was defeated...
...by Silent Bob and Excel Excel, who then introduced the convention's guests of honor.
The parade of voice actors started the event, led by Greg Ayres, who is working toward leopard-spotted hair.
Actor Chris Patton was next, with more normal hair for the first time this year.
