Studio Ironcat
2004
After money and organizational troubles that nearly sank the company in 2003, Studio Ironcat is trying to come back in 2004 by returning to their roots and importing more manga. Kevin and Steve Bennett, the brothers who run the show at the recovering Ironcat, said they're determined to rebuild the business from their major troubles. The Virginia company plans more releases in 2004 of their long-time favorite Vampire Princess Miyu, along with Maid in Hanayukyo, My code Name is Charmer, and The Wanderer. After those titles come out, all of them in tankobon "graphic novel" form, Ironcat hopes to get to Nanako 6/17 and several other titles. And Kevin Bennett said "We've got some big titles that we can't announce that we've gotten the okay for."
Ironcat had big hopes for their Amerimanga anthology in 2003, but the company's financial troubles took down that title, and the Bennetts said it won't come back as it was originally published. However, Ironcat won't give up on the idea of a fan artist anthology, and they'll look at options that might not include printed books. "There are ways we can bring new stuff to the printed page without us sticking out our necks," Kevin Bennett said. One idea that looks as if it will be revived is the Studio Ironcat cosplay calendar, popular during its single printing but lost in the shuffle. And for those who feel their orders of Ironcat material have been ignored, Steve Bennett had this answer: "Please let us know and contact us so we make sure things get rectified."
