First to be introduced was not an artist or an executive, but a diplomat: Yutaka Yoshikawa, the consul general of the Japanese consulate in Chicago. A diplomat of a different kind was introduced next: Hiroaki Inoue, veteran animation producer and one of the top backers of the World Science Fiction Convention to be held in Japan in 2007. After missing Ushicon four months earlier, manga artist Higuri You finally got to a U.S. convention. The married couple of animator Matsushita Hiromi and character designer Tadano Kazuko had last been seen at Sugoi Con in Kentucky six months earlier.
