Here's what you expect to see at Gen Con, a long line of people waiting
to register for the four-day show.
|

And here's what they were waiting for, the miniatures gaming. This was
a small part of the larger gaming show that spilled out of the Indiana
Convention Center to fill ballrooms in adjacent hotels.
|

Gen Con began with card gaming, and part of the fun with cards is using
them to build things. These card buildings were made in the few hours
after the doors opened on Thursday.
|

If card gaming is the part of Gen Con, this could be the future. The
reduction in status of the E3 electronic games convention led some
companies to look at Gen Con as a venue to promote their wares.
|

That's why you saw vendors such as computer
company Dell in a place
where they never would have been before. However, the number of
computer gaming exhibits at Gen Con didn't seem to be radically larger
than at previous events.
|

Another trend that continued, unchanged, from previous Gen Cons was the
number of big industry booths for anime-based games. A couple of years
ago, the Fullmetal Alchemist game got a big push, and this time it was
Naruto's turn.
