Here's someone we didn't expect to see at Gen Con: Michael "Piano
Squall" Gluck, playing his keyboard transcriptions of video game music.
Gluck is now part of the Video Games Live music project, and was
scheduled to perform with the orchestra as part of their Friday night
and Saturday night concerts in Indianapolis.

Here's someone we did expect to see, the very pretty young mother
Michelle. We missed her at her best when she was part of the "geek
queen" beauty pageant at the convention, in which she had to improvise
a dance when her dance partner came down with food poisoning.
|

Here's something else we expected to see; the main tournament card
gaming room that takes up two big convention center halls. In the past,
we've seen this room filled with a football field and dozens of race
cars. This time, Upper Deck and Magic the Gathering were among the
major tenants.
|

On the convention's second day, this room was starting to see big
crowds for events such as a World of Warcraft tournament. But there
were anime-themed games to join the sword-and-sorcery contests that are
mainstream in this culture.
|

The Cartoon Network generation had their tournament with the Bleach
card game, held in a corner of the big room...
|

...and right next door was a tournament for the Naruto card game,
another contest that tended to have younger players than the typical
Gen Con tournaments.
