Sometimes
it takes only one role to make an acting career complete. That's been
the case for the many lucky performers who were fortunate enough to
land roles in the English-language dub of the popular Fullmetal
Alchemist series. Wendy Powell was in the right place at the right time
when she was cast as the homunculus Envy. Even though that character is
responsible for one of the series' most infamous deaths (we won't be
giving any spoilers away), Envy may be the most intriguing fictional
shapeshifter since Odo in Deep Space Nine. While Powell's character
from Trinity Blood, Sister Paula, may be as dangerous as the homunculus
she portrays, Envy is the one that everyone remembers. And it was that
character that led so many people to to ask for Powell's autograph when
she appears at conventions such as A-Kon and Ikkicon. At the Austin
convention, there was the irony of having Powell and Vic Mignogna,
Edward Elric's dub voice, side by side in the autograph line; for once,
the characters weren't trying to hurt each other.
