Racer X - Anime Convention Personality of the Week - Feb. 20, 2000 Actually, this
costumer isn't Racer X all the time, but it's his best-known role. The
mysterious brother of Speed Racer made a memorable appearance at Katsucon
in 1998, where he took to the stage and...sounded suspiciously like Jimmy
Stewart. Racer X made one more appearances that year before going on hiatus
and being replaced with a series of fearsome villains who terrorized masquerade
stages - with their poetry. (Where did this guy come up with that stuff?
And why was he always seen in close proximity to the Big Fire World Domination
room parties?) Racer X made a comeback for one brief shining moment at
Anime Weekend Atlanta 1999, to honor the appearance of Peter Fernandez,
the voice of the character and the man who created his English-language
name. |
