Yasuhiro Koshi -
Anime
Convention Personality of the Week - April 1, 2007
Yasuhiro
Koshi's promotional company is called the Big Fighter Project. That's
an appropriate name for the business, because Koshi used to be a
fighter - a soldier in the Japanese military, which still has the name
of "self-defense force." He knows the difference between a 7.62 and a
9mm and a .454, and he's taken his sergeant's experience to the
Japanese film industry. If the high school students in the 2000 Battle
Royale feature look like they know how to handle military weapons, it's
because Koshi taught them. That was one of several films where Koshi
has made sure the military action and weapons were authentic. Now,
Koshi has started the fight for attention for his growing talent pool,
something that can be as involved and difficult as any military
campaign. His new battlefields are American anime conventions and
concert halls, where his performers are increasingly showcased. Big
Fighter Project performers have become welcome guests of honor at many
American conventions, and fans look forward to meeting each new talent
that Koshi brings from Japan.
