Kaori Nazuka -
Anime
Convention Personality of the Week - April 29, 2007
Japanese
animation producers have found a young generation of performers to
voice the roles in their newest, high-profile series. Naori Nazuka is
an example of this new generation's top actors. Barely 22 years old at
this writing, Nazuka already has had a career's worth of roles - Subaru
in the .Hack animation and games, Chiriri in the hyper-cute Bottle
Fairy series, Kisa Sohma in Fruits Basket (her favorite series so far),
Lala Ru in the intense Now and Then, Here and There war drama, Kyoko
Mori in the popular Pretty Cure, and even one of the seven Nanas in the
Seven of Seven series. Her crowning success has been the role of Eureka
in Eureka Seven, something she recalls as a difficult role to perform
but one that was personally satisfying. Along with her acting, Nazuka
has become a busy radio personality in Japan and has sung theme songs
at promotional events. All of this required an early start to be ready
for success by age 22. Nazuka had acted and sung in school plays and
musicals before she was discovered by director Akitaroh Daichi, who
then cast her in several of his productions.
