Shuzilow.HA - Anime Convention Personality of the Week - April 30, 2006
The
Solty Rei series asks some hard questions about affluence and humanity.
It's a futuristic tale where only the rich can afford to stay
completely human and the poor are turned into robots. You'll find the
hand of artist Shuzilow.HA all over this Gonzo series, as he was the
character designer, chose some of the original Japanese voice cast and
was responsible for the production design, along with coming up with
some of the animation staff. Solty Rei, which started as an idea for a
game, took eight years to be produced as an animated series. "One of
the things I wanted to do was to find what had not been done and
combine it with what I wanted to do," he said. Shuzilow also has been a
major part of the Gankutsuou - Count of Monte Cristo series, handling
the shows' animation that features the complex, unorthodox use of
texture mapping instead of conventional colors.
