Lisa Furukawa - Anime Convention Personality of the Week - May 1, 2005
An
organizer of the Middle Tennessee Anime Convention told a Nashville
audience that he had seen Lisa Furukawa perform in North Carolina, fell in
love with her music and insisted that the Tennessee convention invite
her to make music. The Nashville fans quickly learned that Furukawa was a
great addition to that event, a worthy guest for a convention held in
Music City USA. Furukawa mixes her own compositions with anime theme songs;
she's one of the few musicians to try to cover the difficult music from
the Ghost in the Shell TV show. But Furukawa's largest attraction is the
sheer joy she gets from making music, a joy that flows over the
audiences she attracts. At the Nashville event, one concert wasn't
enough, as Furukawa played the piano in the hotel lobby for anyone who would
listen, once as a solo act and once with actor and musician Vic
Mignogna.
