Pat Duke and Elin Winkler - Anime Convention Personalities of the Week - May 17, 1999

Artists and entrepreneurs, this Texas couple turned what could have been misfortune into the opportunity of a lifetime. Pat Duke and Elin Winkler had already made their names as anime fans and creators, working through Antarctic Press. When that company decided to cut back on its publishing schedule, Pat and Elin decided to start their own company, Radio Comix, and pick up those titles. The result was one of the most vibrant of the small-press independent comics publishers. Ironically, now Pat and Elin find themselves in the position of the "guys in charge," and have to placate a group of sometimes-tempermental artists.
