When online anime fandom made the switch from commercial services and individual bulletin boards to the Internet, Steve Pearl was there. When anime fans got only one room in a science fiction convention, Pearl was there. In the early days of unorganized anime fandom, Pearl worked to organize it through the Atlantic Anime Alliance. Need we say that Pearl has been around longer than most anime fans? And, after all of that club organizing and all of that Internet work, Pearl switched gears and became an anime promoter through the Fujisankei company. But Pearl's greatest honor came when the Japan Society of New York City chose him as the only fan to appear at a symposium with some of the greatest names in the anime industry. |
