Lisa Ortiz - Anime Convention Personality of the Week - July 5, 1999 |
|
This voice
actor, a New Yorker, has had the fortune to be part of some of the biggest
anime fan favorites. She was the English-language Lina Inverse in the first
dubbed Slayers series to be released in the U.S. When another actor was
used as Lina in another company's first release of the Slayers OAVs, sharp-eared
fans objected - and they got Lisa back as Lina when yet another company
released more Slayers. Despite being Lina and Deedlit in Record of Lodoss
War, the height of Ortiz' fame came when she became involved in the U.S.
television dub of Pocket Monsters. The remarkable success of Pokemon has
rubbed off on Lisa, who is amazed at how much people love that series. |
