Alistair Abell - Anime Convention Personality of the Week - November 12, 2006
Alistair
Abell will voice the lead character in a new-generation, animated
version of a fantasy-film concept that's become one of the most active
and long-running franchises of recent decades. He'll be Colin MacLeod
in the animated Highlander: Vengeance feature, which will be an unique
cooperation between Japanese and English-speaking creators. The film
will be written and produced by North Americans, while the animation
will come from the Mad House studio and director Yoshiaki Kawajiri. A
trailer for that film already has gotten strong and surprised reactions
from fans who have seen it at anime conventions. Abell is a veteran of
the acting scene around Vancouver, British Columbia. He had plenty of
what actors call "face" work on camera, appearing in episodes of
"Smallville" and "Stargate SG-1." He also had voice roles in the
original Canadian dub of Dragon Ball, the long-running dub of Ranma
1/2, and he's been a voice in Gundam, InuYasha, G.I. Joe and
Transformers. Not bad for someone who comes from the Canadian plains of
Manitoba and has traveled all the way to Texas for conventions.
