Carli Mosier -
Anime
Convention Personality of the Week - December 9, 2007
From wrestling on the floor with
costumers to singing and dancing on stage with a rock band, actor Carli
Mosier made a fast adjustment to life as an anime convention guest of
honor. The veteran of theatrical productions in Houston first came to
fans' attention with her performance as Yukika Karakuri in the ADV
Films dub of Nerima Daikon Brothers. Mosier made a fast and effective
adaptation to the role of the often-tough police detective with a very
soft spot for pandas, and she shifted just as rapidly to the guest role
at SugoiCon in 2007. Mosier first borrowed a Pandaikon look-alike from
a Yukika fan, then appeared at a panel discussion where she spoke about
what it's really like to play female roles in anime dubs (and she has a
lot of those roles in forthcoming productions). Then she joined a
demonstration of stage fighting that saw her spending some time on the
floor of a meeting room to demonstrate how to use what looked like pro
wrestling holds. Back on her feet, Mosier was part of the all-Houston
backing chorus for one of the "Voices for" concerts. Mosier enjoyed the
experience so much that she's expected to head to more conventions in
the next year as a guest of honor.
