Unicorn Table -
Anime
Convention Personalities of the Week - December 30, 2007
At the Javits Convention Center
in Manhattan, a crowd of music fans got on their feet and would not sit
down. For more than an hour, they swung, swayed, danced and celebrated
with a group of dynamic J-rockers in front of them. It was the biggest
concert that Unicorn Table
had presented in the U.S., and it showed that this group has what it
takes to entertain American fans. It was the third time that singer Salia and guitarist Shin-Go
had appeared on an American stage in just over one year. Previously,
the duo had performed at the Akiba Fest J-pop Halloween Ball and at
Anime Mid-Atlantic, brought to the U.S. by Tenbu Productions, but the
New York event was their first in the nation's largest city. For this
special appearance, the group featured in Jinki: Extend, Cutey Honey
and Vandread themes took their performance to another level. In New
York, they brought a full backup band and were joined by local dancers
and a DJ who made it an international show. The result was a
performance that had most of the crowd standing throughout most of the
show, even when Salia briefly disappeared for a couple of costume
changes. The next day, the band re-emerged for autographs and could be
found posing for pictures with fans and a group of cosplaying maids.
